You don't have to postpone your dental appointments or routine cleanings because you are afraid! Our Wellington dental office caters to patients who dread going to the dentist. For our anxious patients, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can be provided along with supportive care to help you get your treatment done. Laughing gas can make you feel calm and comfortable during your cleanings and dental procedures.
Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen. It is inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose. It has no color or smell, and it does not irritate the skin. It is intended to help you relax, not put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions we may have. As you breathe normally through your nose, you should feel the effects of the laughing gas within a few short minutes. These effects will wear off as soon as you start breathing 100% oxygen once the procedure is done. There are no restrictions after its use so you can drive immediately after the appointment.
